How to upgrade?

Designer: Very simple, just login to the Survey Designer application and it will ask you to upgrade. Answer yes.

PDA: Very simple, just connect the PDA and login to SurveyToGo on the PDA - it will ask you to download and install the new version. Answer yes and that's it!

PC Surveyor: Very simple, Just run the PC Surveyor and it will automatically upgrade itself!

Designer: Multi Language support for surveys!

SurveyToGo now supports running the same survey with multiple languages. You can add a new language, translate the question and answer texts to the new language and then have the survey witch between languages in the field!
The new "Language" section in the designer, along with the "Language" menu enable you to easily add more than one language:

After adding a language, you can either translate the question text in the designer:

Or export the entire survey texts to excel, have it translated and then import the texts back to the designer:

Finally, the surveyor can choose the language on the PDA/PC:

Improved Quota Support

The quota sub system has undergone major improvements and now includes management screens that enable you to view the survey global quotas and set the personal quotas of every surveyor through the SurveyToGo Management Console.

Quotas are defined using the designer, based on answers to questions (can be as complicated or as simple as you need):

Designer: Open / Save just got faster!

Opening and saving surveys is now performed faster, especially for large surveys!

Exporting results is now performed faster than ever!

Exporting results of high-volume surveys is now much faster throughout the system.

New table layout for multi topics questions.

When using multi-topics questions combined with the PC Surveyor, you can specify that this question will be rendered as a table:

Emulator improvements

We have expanded the capabilities of the pc and PDA emulator:

You can now view a log of the survey while conducting your tests and easily figure out whether jump rules and entrance rules worked the way you needed them to work.

You can now jump directly to a question without going through all the questions in a survey. This is very useful when working with big surveys that have many questions.

Click on the bottom button to open up the log viewer:

You can right-click the log to clear it or copy all of it to the clip-board:

PC Surveyor: New rendering modes

Step #1 of our revamp of the PC Surveyor application is complete, and now you can control the following:

Question Layout: either show questions side by side or one after the other.

Screen layout: either run full screen, or limit to a specific resolution

Fonts: customize the fonts names and sizes

PDA: Multiple running surveys

SurveyToGo now makes it much easier to switch between many in-progress respondents. This is useful when simultaneously surveying more than one respondent. A new menu named "Switch" was added for easy switching between respondents:

Operations Console

When reviewing interviews of big surveys that contain many chapters, you can now easily expand/collapse chapters by clicking on the "-/+" sign next to the chapter. Chapter headings are now clearly color coded for easier navigation:

Designer

When writing scripts, you can now see the line number you are at for easier navigation and faster script debugging.

Survey Texts Control

We have added a "Survey Texts" section where you can change and control the texts shown in the different menus/events. These texts can also be configured per specific language in correlation with the new multi language support:

Designer: PDA Rich Text support!

SurveyToGo now supports showing rich text as question text. We now support different font color, font size, bold, italic etc..

Color and text decoration are also supported for answers:

Designer: Custom question and answer panel height support

You are now in control of the height of the question panel and the answers panel of each question. When no rich text formatting is used SurveyToGo will automatically stretch the question panel to fit your text size. However, you can choose to set it to any custom size you need:

Designer: Random Chapters support!

SurveyToGo now supports full randomizing between chapters, sub chapters or questions inside a chapter. You can also exclude a certain chapter from being randomized.

"Other specify" just got better

When choosing that an answer is an "other specify" answer, you can now control whether the other specify text is supposed to be a number, an integer, or regular text:

Manager: Surveyors current GPS Locations and Route

SurveyToGo Manager can now show you the current active locations of all your surveyors, as long as their GPS is active (Arial / Road view):

Operations Console: Printing support

You can now use the "Print" button directly from the operations console details screen to print out a single survey results: 

Operations Console: Internal Discussion Thread Support

You can now add a thread of comments regarding a specific survey result. These comments will be saved throughout the life cycle of the result to enable better tracking for results which need special attention
Note: You can only add comments for survey results which are NOT in read-only status. Once a survey is in the "Approved" status it is read-only. To change a survey status, click the "Change Status" drop-down box and then the OK button:

Operations Console: Better Child Surveys Support

The operations console now has full support for Child Survey results:

When you now "return" a survey result to the surveyor, the child surveys will be returned as well.

Performance: Under the hood improvements

SurveyToGo has undergone a complete "engine" revamp and is now capable of running more than 1,500 surveys on a single device before sync.

Manager: Show survey data on top of the surveyor route on the map

SurveyToGo Manager will now add a special icon for route points where the surveyor filled out a survey. This gives you a more complete route view of the surveyor:

pda: Unbranding support

You can now remove the SurveyToGo logos from the PDA application allowing for an OEM look of the PDA application. This option involves a one-time fee for your organization. Please contact us at hadas@dooblo.net for more information on how to purchase the unbranding option.

PDA: Adding Attachments

You now have a direct integrated way of adding attachment files directly from the survey.
We have added a new button on the PDA to enable this:

Manager: Support Responsible List

You can now define users that are responsible for other users or groups and generate a "responsible list" so that user A will monitor all results of other specific users. This is important when having a large surveyor pool with district surveyor managers each responsible for a different surveyor group.
To define for a user that he/she is responsible for a list of other users, yuo can right click the user in the Manager:  

You then choose the users/groups you want to assign to this user
 

Whenever that users logs in to the Manager operations console, he will only see the results generated by his users.

Command Line Exporter: QA responsible support

When exporting using the Command Line Export utility, we now support the "QA Responsible" of the user used to export the results.
 

Operations Console: New Columns

You can now see the number of attachments, the version of the survey and the number of child-surveys directly from the operations console main grid.

PC Emulator support

SurveyoToGo now supports a complete PC emulator in addition to the PDA emulator that has been added in previous versions.
Along with the new "PC Preview" option:

Customer Questions

Custom Questions are now supported on the PC Surveyor application in addition to the PDA Surveyor.

New Emulator application to help in survey design

At last! There is no need anymore to deploy the survey to the PDA in order to test it. SurveyToGo now includes a full blown emulator application that enables you to test your surveys right from the desktop as if you had a device. Simply click the "Run in Emulator" button displayed below and you will immediately see the emulator show up! 

You can also manipulate the emulator to change from portrait to landscape to square screen orientation and other options as well: 

New PDA installer

We have incorporated a brand new PDA installer application that makes the PDA installation as clean as possible. Just click the "Tools > Install To PDA" menu option in the Designer to use the new installer. 

Display "End of survey" messages to surveyors

You can now configure a survey to display a message to the surveyor upon finishing a survey. You can also optionally configure SurveyToGo to display a warning message to the surveyor if he submits a survey while his device is disconnected from the network.

"Other specify" just got better

When choosing that an answer is an "other specify" answer, you can now control whether the additional text box is a small one, or a larger one and if it should contain numbers only. You can also specify that the textbox is "inline" which means that it will be displayed on the same line as the answer:

Survey Layout on the PDA

SurveyToGo now supports a new "flow-layout" when showing questions on the PDA. Instead of having a fixed size area for the question text, you can now instruct SurveyToGo to use as much space as needed to fit the entire question text WITHOUT the small scroll bar. 
 

PDA Buttons

SurveyToGo now enables you to control which of buttons are visible for the surveyor during the survey (yellow notepad, cancel button etc.). A new "Lockdown" setting has been introduced to allow for kiosk mode. 

Better "Slow network" support

SurveyToGo PDA now supports an improved algorithm to better handle slow networks.

Better GPS support

A new GPS options screen was added to the PDA to allow for better control of the GPS.

Operations Grid

A new "Group By" view mode is now available on the "Operations Console" in the Survey Manager. This mode allows you to easily group survey results in different "views" to better control your data:

You can now return a survey result to a surveyor, or assign it to a different surveyor. This feature enables you to check a survey result and if necessary, return it to the original surveyor for additional work:

You can now move from one result to another result simply by clicking the up/down arrows directly from the observation details screen without the need to close the window:

Assign specific designated users to review surveyor groups

You can now assign a surveyor or a surveyor group to a specific SurveyToGo user. In this mode, once the user opens the operations grid, he will see results only from his assigned surveyors. This is useful for large organizations where each backoffice controller is responsible for X amount of surveyors working on the same survey:

Survey QA chapter and scores

You can now define a chapter as a "QA chapter" which means that the questions of this chapters will not be shown to the surveyor but rather on the operations console "QA" tab. This is useful in conjunction with the new "qa score" addition to the scores mechanism.

Surveyor activity

You can now easily see when each surveyor did his last sync by right clicking the surveyor in the Survey Manager application and selecting "View User Syncs"

New "My Account" node

You can now view your account usage and available balance through the new "My Account" node in the Survey Manager. Purchasing result packages can also be done directly from this node or from our ordering page. To see your account from the Survey Manager:

New "GPS Support"
with maps!

If you are using GPS enabled devices, SurveyToGo will automatically and intelligently read the surveyor GPS position and will save it along with the survey data. You don't have to do anything on the PDA. To view the GPS position of the survey, login to the Survey Manager, locate the relevant survey, then right click and select Operations Console, then double click on one of the results on the gird and select the map tab:

New "PC Surveyor"

We added a new PC Surveyor application designed for running surveys on laptops and desktop PC's. The application is almost 100% compatible to the PDA application and you can use any PDA survey on the PC Surveyor as well!
To install the PC Surveyor, open the Designer and click Tools > Install PC Surveyor (or visit our downloads page)

New easier attachments support!

It used to be difficult to add an attachment to a question so that the attachment will be shown on the PDA when the question appears. We've improved it and now you just click the "Question Attachments" link on the advanced tab of the question and that's it! 

Viewing attachments through the Operation Console

We improved the support for multiple attachments per survey on the Operations Console in terms of speed and usability. We've also added support for all available attachment types (Movies, pictures, signatures, sounds and more)

New Command Line Exporter

You can now export the survey results from a command line utility instead of using the Designer or the Survey Manager. This is a great tool for integration of SurveyToGo to other systems. Go to our downloads page in order to download the latest version! 

Support for common attachment formats on the PDA!

We now support showing non-picture attachments on the PDA, for example: Movies, Sounds, Excel files, Word documents etc..

Improvements to subject stores mechanism, exporting of GPS location, Export of Subject Data (for integration), Export of child surveys, Custom actions support on the PDA, List source support for advanced "filtered list" questions, etc..

"Survey Modes"
[Draft/Test/Production]

Your survey starts off in draft mode, which means the survey is not synchronized to your device. Once you are done designing the survey and you want to be able to synchronize the survey to the PDA you will need to change the survey mode to either Test or Production mode.

New "Word Exporter"

We added a new Microsoft Word exporter that enables you to export the survey results directly to Microsoft Word. Each exported document gets a formatted cover page and each survey result is displayed in its own page:

PDA Landscape, VGA and Square screen support

SurveyToGo PDA now supports all the available Windows Mobile resolutions and orientations: Landscape, Square and VGA modes.

A new "Operations" screen that gives you a clear "Who did what when" overview of your survey. To see it, just right click the relevant survey and choose "Operation Console":
